It is with great sadness that JCI announces the death of JCI Nigeria National President Okunuga and JCI Nigeria Executive Vice President Agaptus on May 26, 2013.

All four passengers were immediately rushed to the hospital for appropriate medical care. However, JCI Nigeria President Okunuga and JCI Nigeria Executive Vice President Agaptus could not be stabilized and were pronounced dead. Currently, JCI Nigeria Treasurer Onuwka and JCI Nigeria Executive Secretary General Onuma are still in the hospital for treatment.

JCI members, especially in Nigeria, are in a state of mourning and remembrance for their fellow late members. Both men were extremely dedicated to fulfilling the JCI Mission and serving their communities. Their legacy will live on and inspire members to take action to create a better world in spite of this tragic time. JCI Nigeria leadership is working hard to support the family and friends of these two men.

JCI members around the world participated in a moment of silence led by JCI leaders and delegates at the Opening Ceremony of the 2013 JCI European Conference in Monte Carlo, Monaco on May 29. In remembrance of JCI Nigeria National President Okunuga, JCI Nigeria Executive Vice President Agaptus and JCI Special Assistant to the JCI Zimbabwe National President Lloyd Ngwenya, delegates at the Conference in Monte Carlo and members in other JCI cities and countries worldwide paused in silent reverence of these men. 2013 JCI President Chiara Milani offered her words of sympathy and admiration for their selfless lives of service. Special moments like this remind JCI members that the brotherhood of men truly does transcend the sovereignty of nations.

On behalf of JCI members worldwide, JCI President Milani and JCI Secretary General Edson A.
