To highlight the importance of the voluntary non-remunerated donation of blood and blood components for the blood safety and availability. To assess the nature and magnitude of current challenges and barriers to 100% voluntary non-remunerated donation in the local community. Our doctors are rigorously volunteering their time to support our community members and help promote the purpose of blood donation. This will create positive change within the community and strengthen their position as active citizen. Thus the project ‘Rokto Din Jibon Bachan’ is aligned with the JCI plan of action.

Propósito

The main priority of the project is to spread and create awareness regarding the practice of donating blood and its components, thus guaranteeing self-sufficiency; this has been achieved principally through increasing the number of organised and periodic donors. The project ‘Rokto Din Jibon Bachan’ helped promote the culture of solidarity and donation and utilizing for the nobelest job which is promoting the practice of donating blood within the rural community.

The impact of the project has been described by the below points:
• It will not only save lives, but will also help people live longer
• Maternal death and complexity can be reduced by providing mothers with blood group and donor information quickly
• There is not enough facility to store blood in rural areas. Human body is the best place to store blood.
• Support the people of the community during their emergency.
• Training them about the noble reason for blood donation when someone is in an urgency of needing blood.
• The storage of blood from different donors can help save time and alleviate pressure.


Visión general

Awareness campaign of importance of knowing blood group and donating blood for social good.
Carrying out blood group testing and provide their blood group.
Practitioners, doctors, physician and counsellors playing the larger role in executing the project in rural areas along with the rural community leader’s support and the partnering organization.


Resultados

Rural people are facilitated with a range of blood transfusion tips. Knowing one’s blood type can also be important because there is a constant need for blood donations. For example, ‘O-negative’ is fairly rare; those who possess this type can really serve their community by donating it on a frequent basis. If a patient is in an urgent need of blood, it saves time to find a suitable donor. Making people aware of their blood group by this program and this will share knowledge about the necessity of blood donation and at the same time making a reliable source of blood donors. Around 500 people will be benefitted by the implementation of Rokto Din Jibon Bachan.


Recomendaciones

• There is not enough facility to store blood in rural areas. Human body is the best place to store blood.
• More than 70% people in rural areas of Bangladesh do not know their blood group.
• This program will help reduce this ratio quickly.
