Dynamic Congress Sessions Encourage Delegates to Create Impact

On Wednesday, November 26, World Congress attendees explored ways to enable communities at the local and global level to create sustainable change. 


Special guests from the UN Foundation’s Nothing But Nets campaign joined JCI members at the Morning Show to recognize Local and National Organizations for their JCI Nothing But Nets Net Impact Program fundraising. After learning about Project Impact 100, a campaign encouraging JCI Local Organizations to conduct a project using the JCI Active Citizen Framework that affects the lives of 100 people, delegates watched enjoyed the Living in Leipzig video and participated in an energetic minute to win it game. Right after the Morning Show, delegates headed to the 2015 JCI Executive Vice President and President Candidate’s Caucus. 2015 JCI Executive Vice President Candidates gave motivational answers to thought-provoking questions about how they will bring JCI into a better, brighter future. Past JCI Presidents interviewed 2015 Candidate for JCI President Ismail Haznedar from JCI Turkey. He promised the members, if elected, he would Commit, Connect and Care for our organization throughout 2015.

 

In the afternoon, some delegates attended JCI Skills Development sessions and a panel about changing societies sharing best practices of how to affect change in the face of adversity. JCI Programs kicked off with an exciting JCI World Public Speaking Championship, and large audiences witnessed dynamic discussion at the four World Debating Championships, English, French, Spanish and German. With a large showing at the JCI Twinning Ceremony where 15 agreements were signed, these members solidified their expansion of impact through internal partnership with JCI President Shine Bhaskaran present to congratulate their collaboration. JCI Nothing But Nets hosted a panel about malaria in the post 2015 world, featuring guest speakers from the UNHCR and the Global Fund. The Active Citizen FrameWorkshop taught participants more about how the information gathered by the UN Millennium Campaign's MY World 2015 survey can help members conduct impactful projects. In the evening at Global Village, the biggest party in the world, hundreds of delegates hosted more than 40 booths where National Organizations shared traditional food and drinks and partygoers danced the night away.
