JCI PRESIDENT CALLS FOR WORLDWIDE FOCUS ON DEVELOPING YOUNG LEADERS JCI (Junior Chamber International) President Bruce Rector is calling for an increased emphasis on developing young leaders and educating young entrepreneurs in order to achieve greater world peace and a stronger global economy. Rector?s remarks were part of a letter sent to leaders of the United Nations, heads of state, and international business and non-governmental organizations. In his letter, Rector said, ?As long as many young people live in poverty, are unemployed and have a sense of apathy toward personal involvement in governmental and business leadership, the future for world peace and a strong global economy is in doubt.? Rector called upon the United Nations and other international organizations to join together for a worldwide summit on the issue of developing young leaders and educating entrepreneurs. JCI is a worldwide federation of more than 200,000 young leaders and entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 40, and millions of alumni throughout the world. National Organizations federated to JCI are active in approximately 5,700 chapters in more than 100 nations and territories. JCI?s mission is to contribute to the advancement of the global community by providing the opportunity for young people to develop the leadership skills, social responsibility, fellowship, and entrepreneurship necessary to create positive change.
