2011 International Crayfish Conference
September 16, 2011
Members seeking to expand their international network, since JCI members and senators are gathered in a social and relaxed environment enabling juniors to get an easy contact with the senators.
The international crayfish conference is an annual project in JCI Halmstad. The objective is to keep continuity in the local chapter with a large project requiring a focused and well organized COC. The objective is also to bring the international part of JCI to the local chapter enabling the local members to expand their network. The project is also a way to enhance the cooperation between the juniors and senators. Both the local senators, the Swedish senate board and the Association of senators in Europe are involved in the project.
The International Crayfish conference has been arranged for 54 consecutive years, making it the longest running international project in JCI run by a local chapter. One of the traditions that make visitors come back every year is the traditional Swedish crayfish party arranged by the local members as home hospitality. The Friday started with the Crayfish open golf tournament, followed by adventure golf tournament, for the ones not playing regular golf and ending with the cocktail party at the restaurant Little Hell (Lilla Helfwetet) The Saturday contained the crayfish tie society meeting, hosted by Don Evert, training with an international trainer, problem solving/team building and of course the home hosp crayfish party.
The recommendation from the COC to the next years COC is to keep the new program. However, maybe a change in location for the entire conference within the city should be considered. As always it is also a good recommendation to start the work of organizing the next conference as soon as possible.
