JCI Designer, the JCI Training Designers Course is a three day course that introduces techniques and tools to design training courses with detailed trainers’ instructions, participants’ handouts and visual aids in such way that other trainers can easily conduct the course.

JCI Designer can be taken by trainers who are at least at the CLT level and have conducted at least 25 hours of training after reaching the CLT level.

Note: Participants are required to bring a laptop computer to work on the course development.

Length: Three days

Participants: Minimum 6 and maximum 30

Content

  • Module 1 - Opening: A time to officially open the course, welcome all participants, review all administrative details of the course, review of the course program and the participants’ expectations.
     
  • Module 2 - Learning Needs: During this Module participants will learn how to assess training needs and how to plan for the fulfillment of those needs.
     
  • Module 3 - Course Outline: Teams will start the designing process of their training course. Teams will also prepare the first four topics of the Course Outline, Name, Summary, Objectives and Major Points.
     
  • Module 4 - Trainers Guide: At the beginning of this Module, students will be asked to start working on the Trainers’ Guide, completing at least the Opening, Presentations, Mind Grabber, or Ice Breaking sessions of the course. At the beginning of the next Module, Teams will present their own Seminars based on their new and revised Trainers’ Guide.
     
  • Module 5 – Learning Activities: Activities and games used during the JCI Designer will be analyzed and evaluated, according to their objectives and results. Teams will have the opportunity to present their activities and get feedback. The Trainers’ Guide must be completed today and must include objectives, equipment needed, room preparation, trainers notes, audio-visuals needed, etc.
     
  • Module 6 – Handouts and Manuals: In this Module participants will learn how to produce written supporting material for their training courses, in the form of instructions for activities or supporting text on the course topic.
     
  • Module 7 – Measuring Learning: The different ways to do evaluations and the results achieved will be discussed. Teams will then design their seminar evaluation forms. A presentation of their forms will follow, with explanation of each question and the expected result.
     
  • Module 8 – Presentations and Closing: Teams will present the courses they designed to the rest of the class and Trainers will comment and make recommendations. Designing Teams will then go back and review the course, making the changes recommended by the trainers and other participants.
