JCI Hong Kong’s City Junior Chamber Celebrates its 25th Anniversary
On Monday, June 26, JCI Hong Kong members gathered at the state-of-the-art Hong Kong Convention Center, with a spectacular view of the Victoria Harbor, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of City Junior Chamber (City JC), the 13th local organization of JCI Hong Kong. JCI members from other countries joined in to celebrate the 25 successful years of City JC, chartered on June 26, 1981, and currently led by City JC President Kenneth Woo. More that 400 guests took part in the event.

Sonny Yu, JCI Foundation Chairman and City JC Honorary Life President; Jennifer Yu, 1988 JCI World President; and Cheung Kwok Bun, City CJ Charter President were among the celebrants, as well as 20 other past City CJ presidents. James Tsui, JCI Hong Kong President, and Phyllis Chan, former JCI Meetings and Board of Directors Manager and current JCI Hong Kong Training Director, also took part in the event.

Overseas guests included JCI President Lars Hajslund, JCI Secretary General Edson A. Kodama, JCI Japan Secretary General Shuichi Mizuno, and members from sister local organizations of Japan, Korea and Taiwan. Members from Shun De All China Youth Federation were also present.

To match the 25 years of existence of City CJ, 25 members from JCI Fukuoka (Japan), a sister local organization of City CJ, took part in the event. JCI Fukuoka President Katsutoshi Koike led the delegation. Senior Executive Director Ko Omura, 2004 JCI World Congress Director Kazuo Kurashige and World Peace Promotion Committee Vice Chairman Motohito Yoshida also took part.

The program began with the JCI Creed, sung by famous singer and composer Joyce Lee. Participants also enjoyed a presentation during dinner and a cake cutting ceremony.

Congratulations!

JCI President Lars Hajslund, the Guest of Honor, delivered an inspiring speech. Other speakers included Sonny Yu, JCI Foundation Chairman and City JC Honorary Life President, and Cheung Kwok Bun, City CJ Charter President.

Hajslund said that from Hong Kong, he would travel to St. Louis, where members usually visit the grave of JCI’s founder, Henry Giessenbier, and reflect on how much one man’s ideas have benefited so many people worldwide. “On this occasion, when we celebrate City CJ 25th anniversary, we can reflect on what a great influence the founders of this local organization have had on countless members,” said Hajslund.

After congratulating City CJ Charter President Cheung Kwok Bun and the other past local presidents who had contributed to the success of the local organization, President Lars Hajslund saluted present and future local presidents and members who will take the organization to even greater heights in the next 25 years.

Congratulations to City JC and JCI Hong Kong!
