JCI Members in Europe Delve into Corporate Social Responsibility
At the JCI European Conference in Tallinn, Estonia, delegates had the opportunity to examine Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Emmanuel Perakis, an inspiring and informative speaker, explained how CSR can help corporations move towards excellence and increase profitability while contributing to the well being and prosperity of entrepreneurs, employees, their communities, and the world.

“Doing the Right Thing”

Perakis presented Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as a “value-driven way” of doing business. “Although there are -mainly four- clear benefits for companies applying CSR practices, the driver for being responsible, fundamentally has to remain the mindset that ‘it is the right thing to do’”, said Perakis.

“Therefore, it is not only a matter of philanthropy,” added Perakis. “It is the ethical obligation of an organization to reduce the potential negative impact of its operations and increase their positive impact on employees, on society, and on the world around.”

Who is Emmanuel Perakis?

Born in Germany, Emmanuel Perakis holds an MBA and an MSc in Biotechnology, as well as a diploma in Chemical Engineering. He is CSR and Communications Director and Executive Committee member of Mytilineos Group, responsible for CSR, Internal and External Communications, as well as Risk and Crisis management.

Perakis has more than twelve years of practical experience in most areas of the value chain, including Corporate Reputation, Corporate Responsibility, Sales, Business Excellence and Supply Chain in companies like Vodafone, Henkel and Thenamaris, at local and international levels.

Perakis has conducted numerous presentations, lectures and training courses on topics related to management, internal operations, and responsibility.

In 2003, the European Foundation for Quality Management honored Perakis with the annual European Leadership Award for his contribution to the movement toward excellence in Europe.

JCI: “A combination of rare and powerful factors”

While JCI delegates were delighted with Perakis’ presentation, Perakis was thoroughly impressed by JCI and its members.

“Having attended many conferences and forums around the world, I must admit to being impressed not only by the organization of the event, and your open, professional and positive thinking and attitude, but also by the smiles and fun that were clearly ‘in the air,’” he said. “The combination of these factors is not only rare, but also very powerful.”
