When you stand at the top of the jump hill, there are many reasons for not running down. But it is the reason for running down that counts. -- Eddie The Eagle
We often experience difficult choices. We face situations in which common sense tells us not to do something, but our heart urges us to do it. If the goal is right, we must let your heart, our passion, energize our actions. Jamie Olivers experience is a good example of why.
Oliver had spent several years building up a brand. He became known as a nice guy who was good at cooking and who was able to display food in an appetizing manner. He had published many cook books and sold more than 20 million copies.
When Jamie Olivers children were of school age, he became aware of how miserable the school lunch was in England. He had money to enrol his children in a school where the food was good. However, he realized that most parents in England could not do the same for their children, so he decided to find a way to help them.
Listening to his heart, Jamie Oliver launched the Jamie´s School Dinners program and began a huge campaign to improve food at the schools. There were plenty of reasons that could have persuaded him to abandon the idea. He faced countless problems. To start, the women in charge of preparing the food did not want to participate in the program, and the school children preferred chips and burgers.
However, Olivers passion pushed him through when the struggle was the hardest. The project succeeded beyond all expectations. Thanks to Olivers campaign, the British government has almost doubled the amount budgeted per meal. Oliver is now launching the same concept in the United States.
If you want to see change, you need to start with a passion, says Oliver. What are you passionate about? What would you like to change? Until we meet again, let your passion energize you!
