Gunnarsdottir joined JCI Nes in January 1998. She became Local President in 2000 and National President in 2006.

At the international level, Gunnarsdottir served as Secretary General on the European Development Council Board in 2008. She has attended seven JCI Area Conferences and seven World Congresses. She has been honored as JCI Senator No. 59240.
