The position for JCI Secretary General (CEO) effective January 1, 2014 is now open for applicants.
JCI is sad to announce the departure of our current Secretary General Edson A. Kodama with his contract expiring at the end of 2013. We are very sorry to see him leave. JCI has been lucky to have his leadership, charisma and knowledge for the past nine years. He will be missed greatly as our members continue to create positive change around the world.
The JCI Secretary General is both a demanding and rewarding position. The job is located at the JCI World Headquarters in St. Louis, USA. Responsible for the overall flow of the entire organization internally, the Secretary General also represents JCI externally. To perform this job successfully, the individual must be available to travel extensively throughout the year. Language skills are also required. The working languages of JCI are English, Spanish, French and Japanese. Fluency in English and one other working language is mandatory and knowledge of all the working languages is a plus. The individual must also be able to work, lead, make decisions and tackle challenges in a multicultural and multiethnic environment.
Another large responsibility for the JCI Secretary General is to establish, coordinate and maintain effective working relationships with other nonprofit organizations, corporate partners and non-governmental organizations. Professional knowledge and experience handling multiple priorities and tasks is a must. On an internal level, the individual must also have strong interpersonal skills to work with JCI staff, Officers and members around the world.
A bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Nonprofit Management (or equivalent) is required. A master's degree or post-graduate degree is preferred. The individual should also have 3 years of experience or an Executive Position in the nonprofit industry. International nonprofit experience is also preferred.
