JCI Field Director for Membership Development in the State of Missouri

Background

JCI recently formed a partnership with (MACA) the Missouri Association of Community Action Agencies in an effort to eradicate poverty in the State of Missouri. The partnership aims to empower young people to engage in solutions that create sustainable impact within their local communities.

Job Description/Principle Responsibilities

The Field Director will be responsible for recruiting young people, ages 18 – 40, around the mission, vision and goals of the organization. This leadership position is complex and highly visible as JCI’s inspirational public voice.

As new members join JCI, it will be the Field Director’s responsibility to lead the organization in achieving the overall goals of the partnership. The Field Director will provide support to local JCI chapters in regard to existing programs targeted towards addressing poverty while also working to develop new programs. The Field Director will work closely with stakeholders representing all sectors of society in an effort to create shared value.


Qualifications
  • Exceptional and experienced public speaker, able to motivate and influence large groups
  • Ability to recruit, manage and inspire volunteers, especially ages 18-40
  • Capable of leading others to work toward shared goals, specifically the mission and vision of the organization.
  • Capacity to garner trust, forge and maintain meaningful relationships with high-profile representatives from corporations, government, non-profit and civil society
  • Business acumen, knowledge and experience; experience working with C-level business leaders a plus.
  • Understands the concept of creating shared value
  • Outgoing, high energy, enjoys meeting new people and skilled at making mutually beneficial connections
  • Ability to break down and communicate abstract global goals and drive grassroots progress towards achieving them
  • Exceptional fast-paced problem-solving skills and resourcefulness
  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to prioritize, multi-task and manage large groups
  • Experience with event planning, including the ability to manage many logistic details concurrently
  • Strong written and spoken communications skills
  • Ability to delegate responsibility to volunteers and coworkers appropriately in a high-pressure environment
  • Possesses global perspective with a clear understanding of how various components of poverty and community development are related within a single community and around the world
  • Available day and evening hours, including weekends
  • University education, Master’s Degree preferred.

JCI Area Director for Membership Development in the State of Missouri 

 

Background

 

JCI recently formed a partnership with the State of Missouri and local Community Action Agencies.  This partnership seeks to create sustainable solutions which address poverty in a new and different way.  The partnership will employ innovative strategies to allow people living in and around poverty to climb the economic ladder in order to secure their future and become self-sufficient.  Today, we are serving those who are living in poverty.  Tomorrow, through this partnership, we will address the root causes and create opportunities for people to exit a life of poverty.

 

The partnership places a great emphasis on the development of young people to tap a wide variety of resources required in the development of creating new solutions.  It will be the catalyst for community-based approaches as we seek to eliminate poverty.  It will provide young people with precisely the type of opportunity they need to participate in the solutions they face. It will empower them to achieve greater success by interacting with other members of society – from businesses and community leaders, to local organizations and civil society.

 

Job Description

 

JCI is searching for a strong individual to help lead this endeavor; an exceptional and experienced public speaker, accountable for inspiring and influencing large groups of young people to come together in this effort. This position is complex and highly visible as JCI’s inspirational public voice. 

 

Qualifications

  • Exceptional and experienced public speaker, able to motivate and influence large groups; specifically young people, ages 18 – 40. 
  • Experience in building a membership organization and/or coalition; communicating and working well with membership, managing and motivating volunteers. 
  • Capable of leading others to work toward shared goals, specifically the mission and vision of the organization and this partnership.
  • Ability to forge and maintain meaningful relationships with high-profile representatives from corporations, government, non-profit and civil society
  • Assures the organization and its mission, programs and services are consistently presented in a strong, authentic, positive image to relevant stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to prioritize, multi-task and manage large groups
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to delegate responsibility to volunteers and coworkers appropriately in a high-pressure environment
  • Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the field.
  • Ability to travel throughout the State of Missouri, including day, evening hours, and weekends.
  • University education, Master’s Degree preferred
